Large, square boxes are often the first thing that comes to mind when we think about subwoofers. But traditional, box-style subs aren’t for everyone, either because of space or aesthetics. ELAC’s IW-S10EQ-W is a solid solution to that dilemma. This in-wall subwoofer and amp combo deals out deep, impactful bass while remaining out of sight.

What brings the boom

The ‘S10EQ-W uses a slim profile 10″ woofer with a motor structure you’d normally find on larger 12″ subs. That helps the 10″ sub punch way above its weight class in terms of frequency response and excursion. The sub is driven by an external 400-watt, rack-mountable BASH amplifier designed to deliver plenty of power without losing efficiency. It uses ELAC’s patented Cabinet Volume Correction (CVC) technology to “tune” the subwoofer for the space it’s enclosed in for optimum performance.

App control makes tweaking sound easy

The free app gives you loads of control over the sub’s sound. You can automatically tune it to match your room’s acoustic properties using nothing more than your smartphone’s microphone. Manual adjustment is available in the form of a 12-band parametric EQ.

Automatic Room EQ

• Utilizing the ELAC In Wall Sub Control app and your smartphone’s microphone, the IW-S10EQ in-wall subwoofer will automatically equalize to your room’s characteristics using a 12-band parametric equalizer. Manual adjustment is available as well.

CVC (Cabinet Volume Correction)

• Featuring patented CVC technology delivers the same best in-class low frequency output no matter what wall it is installed in. CVC analyzes and determines the internal volume of the wall it is installed and adjusts the tuning of the DSP for optimum performance.
