ELAC’s Vertex Series III IW-VJ63-S is a seriously cool in-wall speaker with a built-in enclosure was designed to deliver roughly the same acoustic performance as ELAC’s traditional box speakers. It also borrows tech and materials from their high-end VELA line for audiophile quality sound in a stealthy package. The included paintable grille sits flush with your wall, helping the speaker visually disappear.

High-quality materials and a custom crossover

The ‘VJ63-S is jam-packed with audiophile components, including a proprietary a JET tweeter (ELAC’s take on Air Motion Transformer tweeters) that squeezes air between folds of a film rather than having a cone surface that vibrates. The result is lightning-fast high-frequency response and wide dynamic range. The tweeter also uses a unique deep spheroid waveguide that enhances its dispersion pattern while aiding in efficiency.

ELAC gave this speaker a woofer that can keep up with a fast tweeter. The custom-designed 6″ crystal membrane aluminum woofer handles midrange and bass frequencies and moves quickly without losing detail. To enhance the bass response even further, ELAC gave the ‘VJ63-S a 6-1/2″ passive radiator that uses the same material as the woofer. Both the woofer and tweeter are connected to a sophisticated custom crossover network that ensures smooth transition between the two.

Wall Mounting

Horizontal and vertical mounting is facilitated with 4 recessed keyhole inserts. Routed channels provide easy cavity for wires to allow flush mounting to the wall.

Flexible Tuning

A switch located in the rear of the cabinet modifies the tuning of the tweeter to facilitate vertical or horizontal mounting.

Alternative Wall Mounting

Supplied brackets can be used to hang the speakers both in the vertical and horizontal positions.
